Rounding Calculator

Round a decimal number to a chosen place. Your number stays in this browser.

Enter a decimal number using a dot, without commas or an exponent. Up to 100 characters.

Rounds to the nearest selected place. Exact halves round away from zero.

Enter a number and choose a rounding place.

How rounding works

Choose the nearest integer, ten, hundred or thousand, or one to six decimal places. Values below the halfway point round toward the closer lower magnitude; values above it round toward the closer higher magnitude. At exactly halfway, the result moves away from zero. Decimal places keep trailing zeros.

Examples

  • 2.675 to two decimal places is 2.68.
  • -2.5 to the nearest integer is -3.
  • 1.2 to three decimal places is 1.200.

Questions about rounding

How are negative halfway values rounded?

Exact halves move away from zero. For example, -1.005 to two decimal places becomes -1.01, and -2.5 to the nearest integer becomes -3.

Why does the result have trailing zeros?

A decimal-place choice always shows that many places. Rounding 1.2 to three decimal places displays 1.200. Any rounded zero is displayed without a minus sign.

Can I enter commas or scientific notation?

Use a dot for the decimal point and omit separators, currency symbols and exponents. A leading plus or minus sign is allowed. The limit is 100 characters after trimming outer spaces, including the sign and decimal point.

Is this banker's rounding or significant-figure rounding?

No. This calculator uses nearest-place rounding with exact halves away from zero. Banker's rounding sends halves to an even last digit; significant-figure rounding counts meaningful digits from the first nonzero digit.
